500 CAVALLI SONO GIA’ MORTI. ALTRI SE NON RICEVERANNO UN AIUTO CONCRETO MORIRANNO! SONO RIDOTTI IN CONDIZIONI TERRIBILI, NON LASCIAMOLI SOLI
Dear All,
On behalf of ESMA we would like to keep you informed of the latest situation concerning the malnourished horses at the Pyramids area in Giza, Egypt.
GENERAL
———-
We have now been feeding the malnourished horses since February 13th of this year, when the crisis started during the Revolution and consequently the rapid decrease of tourists visiting Egypt.
In the last couple of months we have seen a gradual decrease of the really emaciated horses, but there are still at least 300 of them in the area that need our help to feed them. Due to the decline of donations our focus is now on those 300 horses. We have also managed to give medical treatments a few times, and the last time we had an equine vet with us he gave many deworming treatments , as well as first aid to those horses with wounds (especially saddle sores). There are still around 50 horses that need deworming treatments. We would also like to buy ‘padded saddle cloths’ for these unfortunate horses who have no respite from the heavy leather saddles that are placed directly on their saddle sores.
We have also built up a reall good trusting relationship by our constant presence in the area with the local community , and many children turn up for ‘The Horse Feeding Day’, we hope that this experience teaches this new generation, who will surely be the next generation of horse owners, how to be kind and compassionate to the horses. We thought it would be nice to produce some tee shirts for the children in this area. We want to incorporate a picture of a cute baby donkey who always turns up for a snack (with its mother) !on this day, together with a printed message of mercy and compassion for horses and donkeys.
